The OHS Girls Tennis team has had a very successful season so far. They are 14-3 overall and 8-3 in the Big 9 conference. Big 9 was Sep. 29 and the girls had a great day. Emily Rahrick won Big 9 champion for one singles and Megan Johnson was champion for three singles. Sara Anderson, Liv Herzog, Jade Hanson and Selena Ong were all runner ups in their matches. The teams goal is to get to the final four in their section. Coach Curt Matejcek reflecting on the season said, “We have top to bottom in our line up have made great improvement. Our singles line up has been very strong all season long and our doubles now are catching up.”

The team’s four captains are: Emily Rahrick, Selena Ong, Liv Matejcek and Leah Tucker. Senior captain Selena Ong said, “I am going to miss the girls, all the memories that we have had and the van rides.” Senior Captain Emily Rahrick when asked what her favorite memory was said, “When my wheel fell off my car during the tennis scavenger hunt or finally beating the mayo girl that I have played about 10 times.” The tennis team has a few traditions some of them being spaghetti suppers, a sleepover in the beginning of the season and “tennis buddies”.

Team play ended on Oct. 4 and the team will carry on for section individuals and a chance at state.
