The Owatonna swimmer strokes her way to the finish

It has been a hard adjustment this season for the girls swim and dive team only having six seniors, so they needed younger teammates to step up and play bigger roles on the team.
Head coach Isaiah Fuller said, “It’s been a good year so far, we have seen many improvements in times and have had many close dual meets. We are sitting in a good spot coming into the second part of the season and looking forward to what we can do after we rest.”

Last year then junior Allison An was the only Huskie to compete at the state level. The senior captain of the team, had very high praise for this year’s team. An said, “We have good divers and swimmers who can swim well in mostly all events, although we are young.” An recently set the record for best overall score through 11 dives at her last invite with a total score of 417. The record was held by her current coach with a total score of 410 through 11 dives.

Although starting off with a 1-4 record and being ranked seventh in the section, the Huskies are looking to bounce back in the last month of the season before sections. Sections for the team will be held on November 7th, and the team is hoping to make it to state.
