Operation Glass Slipper is a non-profit organization founded in 2006. The organization collects donations of dresses and other formalwear for girls in financial need. Money donations are also welcome. Theresa Seykora will be organizing an event to collect donations in Owatonna. Seykora said, “There is currently not a donation location for Operation Glass Slipper in southern Minnesota which is why I decided to start a dress drive to help collect for this deserving organization.” The organization is looking for and kind of formal dress, shoes, jewelry, wraps, or anything to help complete the formal look for girls. Anything from prom to wedding dresses are accepted.
All are welcome to donate and donations are tax deductable. The donated dresses and accessories are brought to a “Princess Event” where girls who are nominated try on and pick out their perfect outfit. A nomination process takes place in order to be eligible for the program. Seykora explained, “The girls need to be recommended by a teacher, counselor, clergy member or other adult. They then fill out an application to show financial need.” The dress drive will take place on Wed. Jan. 29 and Thurs. Jan. 30 at the Knights of Columbus in Owatonna.
