The Owatonna Girls Basketball team has had a challenging season so far. After the graduation of eight seniors last year, many freshman and sophomores were moved up to the varsity roster. The team is 8-16 overall but is continuously working to improve. Head coach, Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa said, “We’ve had some growing pains, but I think our goal is to get better and improve each week, and we’re starting to do that.” The team’s most recent game was Tuesday, Feb. 19 against Winona, and they won 51-48.

The team has continuously worked hard throughout the whole season and hopes to do well in sections. Senior captain, Molly Hawkins said, “This season has had its ups and downs, but it definitely has been overall successful. We’re always growing.” Catch the girls lace up their shoes at home one last time this season for senior night at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.
