Reflecting memories
When it comes to the reminiscing of high school years, yearbooks hold all the memories. Each yearbook is uniquely different each year, however, that would not happen without the hard work of the yearbook staff. This year’s OHS yearbook staff worked diligently and meticulously to create a memorable yearbook for the 2018-2019 school year.
The yearbook staff takes on many roles and responsibilities. Each staff member is assigned a page and is responsible for writing a short feature story, coming up with the layout, getting quotes, taking pictures and editing them.
The yearbook class itself is quite unique as a variety of skills such as writing, photography, marketing, designing, interviewing, researching and photoshop are learned and developed throughout the course of the year. Yearbook adviser, Mr. Dan Leer said, “They have to be persistent. They have to fail and come back and fail again until they finally get everything they need.” They make sure that each story and event throughout the course of the year is covered and represented accordingly in the yearbook. As a result, each yearbook tells the story of that year, making each one unique and special to every class. Junior Camryn Miller said, “I really enjoy being able to help make something that people can keep and look at for many years.”
The OHS yearbook staff uses their talents and skills that they have learned to take all the memories and stories from this year and create them into a book for everyone to look back on. Hard work from each student in yearbook pays off at the end of the year when all the students flip through the pages and reminisce on their memories from that year. Mr. Leer said, “The coolest thing is at the end of the year we have a final project that is worth coming back to year after year.” Be sure to pick up the 2018-2019 yearbook this year. Yearbooks are still available to order from Mr. Leer for $73.
