Mr. Kist

Mr.Turnar Kist is one of the new teachers joining Owatonna High School this year. He grew up in Winnipeg, Canada, and studied at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.  He went to undergraduate school for social studies, but then immediately changed his path to Special Education after he finished his student teaching.  Kist said, “I honestly chose Owatonna because of my passionate love for the band Owl City.” Not only does he enjoy music, but he also loves to watch college football and hockey. He also plays video games during his free time. He is also one of the ninth grade football coaches.

This is Kist’s first time teaching at a school, and he is very excited to start the school year. His main goal for the year is to help every kid become more self-advocates. Kist said, “I want them to start reaching out to other students and make sure they don’t do anything on their own if they can’t.” Kist can be found with a big smile on his face in his room, A-210.
