Mr. Alcott
Mr. Adam Alcott is a student teacher from Iowa State University and is being supervised under Mr. Dan Leer. Mr. Alcott has a major in teaching, along with English, psychology and coaching minors. Mr. Alcott grew up in Rochester, was a Mayo High School graduate, and was involved in hockey, golf, Positive Behavior Intervention Services (PBIS), National Honor Society and debate.
Mr. Alcott’s desire to teach grew on him over time, but he decided that he wanted to be a teacher during his senior year of high school with the help of his English and business teachers. Once Mr. Alcott finishes his senior year of college, he would like to be a high school English teacher, as well as teach a class about analyzing the hidden meanings of poetry, music, art and more.
Mr. Alcott has learned a lot from student teaching. When asked about teaching with Mr. Leer, he said, “It’s been great. He’s been a great role model. I love how much the students respect and admire him. He’s taught me a lot about commanding a classroom and organizational skills. It’s been a great experience so far.” He would like to thank the students and faculty of OHS for welcoming him and helping him prepare for the future.
