With a tough start to the season, the boys have gained confidence as the year has progressed. They have learned to become a family. This year’s captains are seniors Sam Henson and Derek Huxford, and juniors Kaden Nelson and Lane Versteeg. The Huskies have a young team this year, containing seven seniors, 12 juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. Huxford said, “We have had a lot of ups and downs, but we continue to work together as a team.” The Owatonna Boys Soccer team earned the fifth seed in the AA conference.

This year’s key players have been Derek Huxford, Leo Gantert and Sam Henson. Head Coach Bob Waypa said, “This was our second-youngest team in my 22 years coaching, so I knew there would be a learning curve for our team. This team has gotten more comfortable each and every day we are on the field. Even with being young, we tied for 4th in the Big 9, and next year looks bright.” Owatonna Boys Soccer regular season is coming to an end soon. With a tough schedule, the Huskies have a record of 7-5-4. The Huskies lost 2-1 against the Lakeville South Cougars in the first round section game to end their season.
