As the season winds down for the Owatonna Girls Cross Country team, they are looking to make a big push to finish off the year. Head coach Dan Leer said, “The season has been going very well and we are hoping to get back at it as the cold weather has canceled some of our meets.” As the season is coming to an end, the team is heading into sections with a full head of steam. The Big 9 Conference meet was held at the Owatonna Brooktree Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The team has nine seniors, and they have a lot of leadership characteristics that push the younger runners and helps them become a part of the team with their team bonding activities. Senior captain Chloe Schmidt said, “Our team has really come together, all the way from the 7th graders in the team to the seniors.” All the girls want to do is finish the year strong, and with the Big 9 and the section meet coming up, they are looking to place in the top five for both meets. Owatonna will be hosting the section cross country meet on Thursday, Oct. 24, starting at 2:55 p.m.
