Frozen II is going “Into the Unknown”

Jasmine Ziegenhagen, Writer

One of the highly anticipated movies of the year, Frozen II, directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, is the sequel to Frozen which came out Nov. 19, 2013.

Frozen II continues the story of Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, and their friends as they live in Arendelle. In Frozen II, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf leave Arendelle after spirits take over their beloved kingdom. They travel to find an ancient forest filled with magic from the spirits of the four elements. The forest has a magical mist that has trapped people within its borders. It has all kinds of hidden surprises that add to its mystical aura; however, it doesn’t get too serious. Through their magical and humorous travels, the two sisters have to unlock the truth about their past in order to save the forest and their kingdom. While finding out the truth of their kingdom’s past, they also discover the truth behind their parents’ deaths. The discovery of the truth strengthens Elsa’s powers and makes her more confident in her control over them.

The mysteriousness of their parents’ past helps enrich the plot and story of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. The continuous answering of the character’s questions keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The Walt Disney Productions team does a great job to keep the audience engaged in the film with humor: Olaf provides comic relief. They have added in more humor throughout the film with all the characters, keeping a smile on the audience’s faces.

On its opening day, Frozen II made $8.5 million at its North American Box Office locations.  The movie is expected to reach $100 million in its second weekend. As for its reviews, Frozen II has earned a 75% from Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.2/10 from IMDB. Although Frozen II is targeted towards younger Disney fans (10 and under), it is a great movie for all ages to enjoy. Showtimes for Frozen II can be found here.
