The Owatonna Boys Basketball team is off to a good start to the season so far. The Huskies overall record is 4-6 (3-3 in the Big 9 Conference). The Huskies have won the last two games with there last win coming against the Winona Winhawks with a score of 79-49. The team is very young with only three seniors on the squad. The youthful team has many dynamic underclassman players starting for the Huskies. Sophomore center Evan Dushek finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds. Dushek said, “Winning a couple in a row was big for us. We will continue to build on the things we did well with a team effort and hopefully continue to win games.” Dushek is averaging 23.3 points per game on the season so far.

Owatonna’s veteran  head coach Josh Williams, “Our last two games specifically against Faribault and against Winona were huge wins in terms of gaining confidence and continuing to grow as a team.” Along with the team growing big key to winning the last two games is their ability to have multiple players on the score sheet with big point totals. The Huskies are hoping to keep it rolling with another big win. Their next game will be at Rochester John Marshall Tuesday, Jan. 14.
