The push to Big 9 perfection

The Owatonna Boys Cross Country team has been unstoppable this year, as the season is winding down they hope to continue their undefeated record in the Big 9 and section meets. With only a few meets left they hope to be at the top of their game.

Head coach, David Chatelaine, is extremely happy with their start to the season. Chatelaine’s highlight of the season so far is their sweeps of the first few meets. Chatelaine said, “We’ve had a few meets where the teams, both varsity and junior varsity, have swept the top five places.”Finding themselves in this position showed how strong their team really was. They have the ability to do great things and with a good attitude the sky’s the limit.

The runners also see their place in the Big 9 as a great accomplishment and hope to continue their undefeated path. Senior captain, Michael Haberman, had the exact same highlight of the season because of its difficult nature. Haberman said, “We’ve swept every single meet except for our last meet.” Their last meet turned out to be an exceptional win. The team was not quite as dominant over the strong team of Rochester Century, but found a way to win. Haberman is proud of his teammates and hopes to continue their winning streak.

The future for the team is bright. They are looking forward to their last few meets moving into sections where they hope to come out on top. They have a lot of talent that has shown so far this season, and their determination to come out on top. The last meet was a close race but their determination and skills will keep them driven to finish the season strong. The Huskies will run at Brooktree for the Big 9 conference meet on Friday, Oct 9 at 5:45 p.m.
