Get pumped for Five D.O.G.

What better way to bring a student body together than by giving back to the community? New to OHS this year is Five Days of Giving, commonly abbreviated as Five D.O.G., and with it, the perfect opportunity to do just that: Give back. Formally, Five Days of Giving has been known as Cash Drive. However, this year, the event is seeing a change in pace. “The event is not only changing its name, but it’s also revamping its image in the school with loads of new activities,” said senior Student Council President Ben Konold.  Five Days of Giving will kick off with a pep fest on Friday. Be prepared to not only get pumped for the fun activities that Five Days of Giving will be offering, but also to learn about Transitional Housing, the local charity of choice that will be receiving all donations this year. On Monday, the week starts off with a bang- of the literal sort, with a Nerf War that evening. All are encouraged to attend.

On Tuesday, there will be a car crush in the parking lot right after school. Konold said, “If you are hoping to let out a little post school frustration or just have a little fun, the car crush will be great.” To end the festivities, OHS will be hosting its first ever Mangeant! With many a guy on the docket to be crowned Owatonna’s first “O-What-A-Man!” it should be a very entertaining evening.  Throughout the week, there will be lunchroom activities offered and dress up opportunities. Classroom competitions are also greatly encouraged as they are great ways to raise cash and get great rewards from your teachers! Feel free to get a friendly rivalry going between two classrooms for next week. Student Council and your community cannot wait to see how Five Days of Giving will play its part in helping OHS come together and give back, and they hope that you are as well!
