Wrestling with purpose

With a great season so far the Owatonna Huskies have earned the rank of eight in the latest ranking with six of the wrestlers ranked in the top ten in their weight classes. The wrestlers being Kanin Hable,  Landen Johnson, Kaden Nelson, Jacob Reinardy, Cael Robb and Matt Seykora. The Huskies have a 13-3 record team wise with the losses coming from STMA and Northfield twice.

The Huskies have a very talented lineup this year. Head Coach Adam Woitalla said, “There’s a lot of good things up and down our lineup.” The Huskies are happy for the opportunity to wrestle this year and keep battling to show the state how good they are team wise and individually. The Huskies who are a well diverse team when it comes down to age are led by captains Reinardy, Johnson, Nelson, Seykora and Abe Stockwell.

With COVID-19, sections and state are going to look a little different this year. The top four of the first section go to the second section where they will meet up with four other kids from a different section and the top two from that super section will go to state. The state brackets will have eight kids in each bracket and place the top six. Captain Johnson said, “Individually I want to win a state title and team wise making it to state and placing in the top four.” The Huskies next tri-meet is against Albert Lea and Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday, Feb. 18 starting at 5 p.m.
