Mr. Berger is excited to start a new chapter at OHS
Mr. Brandon Berger is joining the OHS staff this year as the new choir director. Prior to coming to OHS he was one of two choir directors at St. Michael-Albertville High School. He also helped with the theatrical productions and directed some of the co-curricular choir groups at his prior high school.
He had great musical experience throughout high school and that inspired him to want to be a choir teacher, Berger said, “I had really great choir teachers myself, and really great music teachers in my schooling. That really inspired me to teach music and have music education be my career.” His musical background and passion for music will be important to the success and growth of the OHS’s choirs.
Mr. Berger teaches Huskies, Varsity and Concert Choir here at OHS. He expressed his passion for teaching music to high school students and being a part of their music experience. He said, “I think it’s a unique time in people’s lives and to be able to find my way into people’s lives as they learn to make music, as they learn to sing and as they’re becoming more comfortable in their own abilities.” In his free time, Berger finds enjoyment in playing Nintendo games, he also spends a lot of time walking his dogs, listening to audio books and spending time with his family.
So far, students are enjoying Berger’s relaxed and positive classroom environment. Sophomore Kate Sande, who sings in Concert Choir, said, “I think he’s very knowledgeable and has a good way of leading the class.” Mr. Berger’s classroom is in D-201.
