The OHS Girls Swim and Dive team came ready to take on the challenge this year. Their section finals took place Friday, Nov. 12. Junior Logan Norrid made it to state and will be competing in the Minnesota State Girls Swim and Dive meet for her fourth year in a row. Norrid will be competing in the 100 meter breaststroke and the 100 meter fly at the state tournament. Norrid placed third in the 100 meter breaststroke and first in the 100 meter fly and succeeded in breaking school records in both events at sections. Norrid’s performance in these two events ticketed her way to state, where she will be competing in both. Norrid said, “I am excited to compete at state this year being that we didn’t get to last year due to COVID-19, I feel prepared and ready.” Norrid will be competing at state prelims this Friday, Nov. 19. Coach Tara Lammers said, “Logan is very focused and goal oriented. When she sets goals, she will fight to achieve them. Logan is a 3 times section champion in the 100 fly and currently holds 5 different school records. She has overcome various obstacles in her career and that has not held her back from achieving her goals.”

The OHS Girls Dive team competed in their section finals Thursday, Nov. 11. Freshman Mya Dutton placed 4th in section finals, moving her onto the Minnesota State Swim and Dive meet. Diving Coach Ms. Kasey Leiferman said, “My favorite part of Mya’s growth is her personal growth. Her happiness and her love for the sport has been my favorite part. Her skill set and her fearless attitude is incredible.” At state, Dutton will be competing in her 11 dive list, which contains a front dive, back dive, inward dive, reverse dive and twist dive. Dutton says, “I am excited to experience the state tournament for the first time and I feel confident in my skills.” Dutton will be competing at state prelims this Thursday, Nov. 18.

The MSHSL Girls Swim and Dive meet will be held Nov. 18-20 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
