With a little over half of the season under their belt, the Owatonna girls volleyball team hopes to continue to do what it takes to be successful. They are currently 10-10 and are ranked fourth in the Big Nine conference. Although they have a losing record, the team has had the chance to play and compete in a tough conference and section, along with getting to face some hard and talented metro teams.

Leading the team are senior captains Ava Eitrheim and Isabella Barrie. Both have had a great start to the season and hope to keep it up throughout the rest of the season. Barrie said, “So far our season has been going pretty well. We have had the opportunity to play some good teams during tournaments and our past few games, getting to figure out what else we need to work on during practice.” Barrie and the rest of the team remain eager to get better in all aspects of the game so they can finish their season strong.

The team has improved over the season and continues to find ways to become better. The girls are very hard workers in practice and strive to reach their goals. Head coach Rachel Malo said, “To remain consistent in our gameplay – come ready and come willing to do what it takes to be successful as a team, not individuals.” In order to compete at high levels and get to where they want to get to, the team needs to continue to work as a team. They have grown together and are very excited for the remainder of the season.

The girls next home game is on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7:15 p.m. against Mankato West.
