The Owatonna Volleyball season has come to an official end. The Owatonna Girls Volleyball team ended their season on Wednesday night with an unfortunate loss against Lakeville North. Lakeville North swept Owatonna in a three set match with scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-10.

The team was guided by nine seniors who helped lead them to a record of 10-12 this season. Head coach Rachel Malo said, “You’re gonna have your issues on and off the court. But overall, I think we’re here for each other and we play for each other.” Coach Malo has done a great job leading these girls through the season and has many goals for the future. Coach Malo stressed every game for these girls to play with passion. The seniors have been playing together for many years and had to say their hard goodbyes after the game.

Senior Captain Ava Eitrheim led the team with her energetic attitude on and off the court. Eitrheim said, “I’ve learned how to persevere in adversity and the importance of unity. I enjoyed the memories made and the friendships gained.” With the season ending, the seniors prepare to move on and work towards graduation. With nine seniors moving on to graduate in 2023, the team will have many shoes to fill next season.
