The Girls Swim and Dive team season has come to an end after the section swim meet. The team had nobody qualify for state, but Gabbie Poole had a successful senior season. Poole, along with senior co-captain Anna Youngquist, had a goal to lead the very young Huskies team to some positives for the year.

Poole was seen as an outstanding diver for the season. Poole set many goals for herself this year to close off her senior year in a great way. Poole said,” My goals for this season were to make varsity Big nine, hopefully make sections, and to score over 170 on a six-dive list.” With the season being over, Poole’s goals were on track to coming together but came up just short in the section meet. With the season coming to a close, Poole accomplished two out of her three goals and showed vast improvement diving this season. Coach Lammers said, “Gabbie had a great impact. She was really positive and showed leadership by example. She worked really hard in and out of the water and so that transferred over to all the athletes. Sometimes it’s difficult because swimming and diving are very different.”

Poole has been on the swim and dive team since she was in seventh grade and has cherished many memories with her friends and teammates throughout her career. Poole joined swim and dive because she had quit gymnastics and needed another sport to play. Poole is glad that she joined swim and dive and is appreciative of the opportunity to participate in the sport.  Poole said, “My favorite memories from the swim team were the team dinners and the sleepovers. Every year we would do a team sleepover before the season would officially kick off.” Poole enjoyed the team bonding moments that she had with her fellow team members as the season went on.

The senior leadership will be missed from the young Huskies swim team next season. Poole plans to attend a college to swim next year but is unsure where she will go.
