Movies have been a huge part of the entertainment industry since the start of their arrival. Both new and old movies have for sure made their marks on consumers’ recurring watch lists. Thanks to Netflix’s most recommended playlist, viewers and movie fanatics have an easy time finding and enjoying movie classics and new hits.

Lighthearted fun

At number five on the list is, the movie  “Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical”. Matilda, played by Alisha Weir, is an extraordinary girl armed with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination, who dares to take a stand against her oppressive parents and head teacher to change her story with miraculous results. This movie is rated PG due to the exaggerated bullying, violence and some slightly inappropriate language. This move is recommended to watch because of the immense amounts of praise it received and the many awards it had won. In total, the show won five awards, including the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.

At number four is DreamWorks,  The movie “Trolls”. After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, played Anna Kendrick, the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious Branch, played by Justin Timberlake, set off on a journey to rescue their friends. Their mission is full of adventure and mishaps, as this mismatched duo try to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done. This movie is rated PG for some mild rude humor, making it a perfect movie to watch with the whole family. The cast of “Trolls” also has many stars, but this movie is recommended because it is a very heartful and endearing movie about friendship and making new friends.

Dark and Suspenseful

At number three is with strong violence, the movie  “No Escape”. American businessman Jack Dwyer, played by Owen Wilson, his wife Annie and their two young daughters arrive in Southeast Asia to begin a new life. As his company plans to improve the region’s water quality, the family quickly learns that they are right in the middle of a political uprising. Armed rebels attack the hotel where they are staying, ordered to kill any foreigners that they encounter. Amid utter chaos, Jack must find a way to save himself and his loved ones from the violence erupting all around them. This movie is rated R for strong violence including a scene that portrays sexual assault and inappropriate language.

The second most recommended movie is “White Noise”. College professor Jack Gladne, played by Adam Driver, and his family’s comfortable suburban life is upended when a nearby chemical leak causes “The Airborne Toxic Event”, releasing a noxious black cloud over the region that forces the Gladney family to evacuate. This movie is rated R for brief violence and language.

“I really liked the ‘Glass Onion’ movie. I think that it was very interesting and it was very different from the first one. But personally, I think that I liked the first one a little better, but ‘Glass Onion’ is still a really good movie.”

The most recommended movie on Netflix is “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”. Tech billionaire Miles Bron, played by Edward Norton, invites his friends for a getaway to his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, is put on the case. This movie is rated PG13 for strong language, some violence, sexual material and drug content. This movie is the most recommended because it falls into the classic mystery genre, has many well-known actors and it is also the sequel to the original “Knives Out“.

This sequel takes a whole new turn on what “Knives Out” fans may have been expecting, but even then fans are still very content with the final product of the movie.

That concludes the Top 5 most recommended movies on Netflix. This list gives viewers a variety of hit genres to watch. As the January temperatures plummet, finding time to watch any of these hits should come easy.
