Owatonna Figure Skating Club will be performing their annual show this upcoming weekend. All music and costumes are based on Disney movies. This show marks the 45th year of figure skating shows performed as a club.

Coach Jennifer Anderson said, “The show theme this year is Stories of Good and Evil, so it’s based on Disney stories of villains, heroes and princesses.”

Learn to Skate and figure skaters will be performing in this show, showcasing the wide range of skaters involved with the skating program. OHS has two skaters that are a part of Owatonna Figure Skating Club. One being junior Hannah McNett, who began skating five years ago.

McNett said, “My favorite part of the figure skating show is everyone working together and helping create really good performances.”

Some of the Disney movies that will be referenced in the show will be: “Anastasia”, “Mulan”, “Princess and the Frog” and “The Little Mermaid”. Soloists and bigger groups will all skate to songs based off of the movie they were given.

McNett said, “My favorite group song is ‘Zero to Hero’ from ‘Hercules’.” She enjoys being able to skate with all of her skating friends to the light-hearted lyrics.

Many moving parts are involved in making the show turn out great. These include the costumes, music, theme and props.

Coach Anderson said, “I would say my favorite part is doing the props. Along with putting on the show overall and pleasing the community with some fun entertainment.” The show is a great way to display the talents of the skaters that are involved in the club.

Come watch Owatonna Figure Skating Club perform their show on Saturday, March 11 at 2 p.m.
