The OHS Girls Tennis team has had a tremendous start to the season. They have a 9-2 record in the 2024 season. So far, they have placed third in the conference after a win against Mankato West. The team had their last regular season match on Sept. 24. Now the team is heading into Sections and is hoping to stay in the competition as long as they can.
During the girls tennis home opener on August 22, the team won 7-0 against Albert Lea. Senior captain Hannah Nelson said, “It was fun to work together as a team to score points and win the match.” During their last match, they won 7-0 against Mankato West. Senior captain Lauren Nelson played well this season with her doubles partner Hannah Nelson. The team has been practicing every day after school to hopefully achieve their goal of competing well in the Big 9 Tournament. Lauren Nelson said, “We have been having a lot of success but we are taking it one match at a time.” After five years of commitment to the OHS Girls Tennis team, Nelson has made many achievements for herself along with the team. They had a successful regular season and are ready for the Big 9 Tournament.
The OHS Girls Tennis Team is having a lot of success due to the amount of returning varsity players. Senior captain Emma Herzog said, “We are really excited to play in the Big 9 match this upcoming Saturday.” Herzog said the team has been successful and had fun competing together this season. The OHS Girls Tennis team competes in the Big 9 Tournament in Rochester this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 28. The team is looking forward to seeing how far they get in Sections during the 2024 season.
The Huskies’ first Section match is Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Owatonna High School.
