Boys track and field state qualifiers: seniors Andrew Stelter and Logan Langeland and juniors Zae Lafaive and Matthew Kingland

The boys track team had their section meet on Saturday, May 31. There was four lucky boys that made it in the top two of their event on Friday, June 6. These boys include juniors Zae LeFaive who made it first place in high jump & Matthew Kingland took second advancing to the State level. Junior Matthew Kingland said that he was, “Pretty happy that both us juniors are in state for long jump and that we’ll have next year to try again and do even better.” The boys are anxious to see how things will go at State this Friday.  Zae LeFaive said “We’re pretty talented, I have a feeling this is going to go real well.” Also qualifiying senior Andrew Stelter, who placed first for shot put and discus, and Logan Langland earned second for triple jump. Senior Andrew Stelter said, “I’m really excited for Friday. I think it’ll go really well and I’m very anxious to see how it turns out.” Langland added, ” I’m pretty excited to go up against the best athletes in state.” It was by far a great season for our track and field boys, winning all their Big 9 meets and sending four off to state. Unfortunately, the team will be losing some outstanding leadership. Coach Kevin Stelter said, ” Its going to be tough saying goodbye to the seniors, they were great athletes and even had even better leadership. Hopefully, the juniors will spread that on and come in strong next spring.” The State Tournament will be held Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.
