Currently 3-0 in the conference and 3-2 overall, the Huskies wrestling team has made good use of their practice time. This year’s captains are seniors Wechtuor Thuok, Justin Tacheny and Alex Green. They have been pushing the team to work and practice hard and learn new moves. The Huskies had tough losses to Hastings and Farmington, but dominated Rochester Mayo, Mankato West and Northfield, beating each team by a minimum margin of 30 points. “We sent them a message that Owatonna is still here to kick butt”, said Green. The team has participated in two invitationals, placing second at the Faribault invitational and third at the Chanhassen invitational. The team has several undefeated members: freshman Peyton Robb, sophomore Tanner Cole, sophomore Griffin Thorn and senior Green. When asked about the team and their goals for the season, head coach Cliff Casteel said, “[Our goal is] to keep getting better every week, every day and we have an outstanding group of kids.” The next meet is the All Force Minnesota Christmas Tournament at the University Center in Rochester on Friday, Dec. 19, and Saturday, Dec. 20.
