Sophomore Sophie Paley gives her direct examination for the prosecution

The Owatonna Mock Trial’s season has come to a close with a loss against Northfield on Thursday, Feb. 19. A and B Team went head to head in round four of regionals on Thursday, Feb. 12 where B team prevailed with a twelve point lead. B team moved on to round 5 of regionals against rival Northfield. After a long trial of over three hours, Northfield was declared the winner by fifteen points. First-time mock trial coach Mrs. Ann Christensen said, “Overall, I thought that the teams did really really well. I thought their performances were outstanding.” With eight seniors leaving this year, the Mock Trial team with split in half next year. “I’m looking forward to working with the students that are returning because I got to know them well. I feel bad that the seniors are graduating, because they really did a nice job on teaching the other ones what to do,” Mrs. Christensen said.

A banquet on Sunday, Mar. 15 will cap off the season with awards and goodbyes. Senior captains Katherine Speiker, Kurt Haugen, and Mady Vieths are all happy with the way the season turned out and wish the best of luck to the returning members next year.
