The OHS Girl’s Tennis team has been smashing their competition so far this season. With a varsity record of 9-2, the squad has had a very successful season. Senior captain Macey Tellijohn said, “It was hard to say how we were going to do this season because of the loss of some key players. So far, we are doing a lot better than I expected.” On Saturday, Sept. 19, varsity placed first at the Rochester John Marshall Invite, a huge win for the team. Head coach Curt Matejcek has been very impressed with the hard work the girls have put forth. He said, “The team is off to a fantastic start this season!” And varsity is not the only part of the team that is doing well. Junior varsity is also crushing competition this season. Coach Chuck Jamison coaches junior varsity. He said, “We have a lot of very competitive girls that are doing really well. The beginners are also catching on really fast.”

This season also has a new addition to the coaching staff. Coach Beth Fink has been welcomed with open arms to the OHS tennis family. Coach Fink shares that this new experience has been awesome for her. She said, “I’ve had a lot of fun so far this season, and I love seeing the improvement in the girls.” Their next meet will be home against Rochester Century on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4:30 p.m.
