The Owatonna Girls Soccer team is off to a great start in Big 9 Conference play, sitting with four wins and one loss to the Rochester Mayo Spartans, who is ranked number 18 in the state. This year, the captains are seniors Ari Olson and Steph Kretlow. When asked about the highlights of the Huskies’ season, Olson said, ‘’The bus rides before and after games have been one of my favorite parts of the season as well as the team spaghetti dinners the night before game days.’’ The Huskies just hit the halfway point of their season and are sitting in the top half of the Big 9. Head coach Matt Roddy said, ‘’Overall, the season has gone well so far. Our schedule is loaded with difficult early games, so our record of 5-4-1 is respectable and should improve as we close out our season. This year, the team is the fastest team I have ever coached in Owatonna. That’s what makes them special from other years.’’ Catch the Huskies playing at home Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. against Northfield.
