Girls soccer kickin’ their way to sections

With the post-season approaching, the Girls Soccer team has a lot riding on their shoulders. Finishing the regular season with a record of 8-6-1, head coach Matt Roddy said, “The regular season was up and down, but overall it went well. The girls played hard and improved throughout the season. We are excited to be playing at home in the first round of the playoffs. We did not play Farmington in the regular season, but we expect them to be a strong opponent. It should be a close match, but if we play well, I expect to win.”

The team is amped and ready to take on sections. The team traveled to Red Wing on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to defeat them by an enormous margin of 7-1. On Thursday, the girls played Austin at home for senior night and defeated them 2-0. Senior captain Ari Olson said, “My favorite moment this season has been senior night. The responsibilities of being a captain are that you have to lead the team in warm up; you have to be a good example, and you need to be a team leader. Sections this year will be interesting because every team is neck and neck with each other, so if we play to the best of our ability, we can do very well.” Catch the Girls Soccer team at the Lincoln soccer complex on Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. as they take on Farmington in the first round of the section tournament.
