More activities for NHS
The National Honor Society has been going strong once again this year. So far, the courtyard area right outside the senior commons has been cleaned and weeded, one of the ongoing service projects for the year. NHS also has members that have volunteered to help with the Healthy Seniors Fall Clean Up. There is also a MASC / MAHS leadership conference held in Fergus Falls from Nov. 1-2. The few members going to this conference will have different training events as well as engaging in some fun activities, too.
NHS is also in the process of picking new senior members. These potential new members are ones that didn’t get into NHS last spring, or ones that weren’t eligible to apply. Once people submit their application, a group of faculty members will review the applications and pick out the deserving students who will be inducted into NHS. This application process should be done and new members should be inducted by the end of the October.
There are not a lot of big events NHS does in the fall. NHS adviser Mr. Jonathon Nelson said, “Even though we do things throughout the year, most of our events happen in the spring.” These spring events include the NHS Talent Show, Lion’s Club banquet and the NHS induction ceremony for new members for next fall. While no specific dates are planned yet, the induction ceremony and the banquet will occur in April. The NHS Talent Show also has no official date planned, so look for dates coming later year.
