Off to state
The Owatonna Junior High was packed, and the atmosphere was electric Thursday night as the Adaptive Floor Hockey team played it’s final game on their way to the Minnesota State Tournament. The Owatonna Adaptive Floor Hockey team faced the Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville team. After a slow start in the first 13 minutes of play, the Huskies were down 0-1 with two minutes left on the clock. Then, Zach Sencer caught fire. He tallied four goals in the last two minutes of the first period, getting the crowd excited and more importantly, his teammates fired up. Sencer tallied two more goals in the second period, and Alex Burns scored six in the second and third. Junior defenseman Sam Gefre also had a goal. He said, “I’m really excited for State. I also really was to stay undefeated and win it!” Taylor Hagen and Elizabeth Crawford had two assists each, and Owatonna ended up winning 13-4. The Huskies have gone to state 12 of the last 14 years, the last time they were state champions was 2004.
The Huskies are currently 10-0-0. A State send-off pepfest will be held on Friday morning at 9:15 make sure to show your Husky pride by wearing blue to the pepfest. The State Tournament will be held at Bloomington Jefferson Friday, March 11 at 8 p.m. The OHS Student Body is asked to wear blue to support the team.
