The Owatonna Mock Trial team had a hard fight as they finished round five with a win on Friday, Feb. 17. Before the round on Friday, the team was ready to perform and show what the Owatonna Mock Trial team can do.

Senior captain Lilegh Nguyen said, “Luverne runs a hard team, but I think our defense team is really ready to perform. So I think it’s gonna be a good trial, and hopefully it isn’t different and we move on to state.”

As everyone hoped for, the Owatonna White team won their round and their season will continue on. With four wins and one loss on the season, the OHS Mock Trial team will make a run in state.

Coach Ms. Laura Epland said, “Back to back years now, going to state for the second year in a row. That, I think, shows that we have some really awesome students in Mock Trial.”

As the team now gets ready for state, they are feeling prepared. They have done a lot this season, and have built the case to become regional champs.

Coach Epland said, “They know what they’re doing. They’re experienced and we’re building a dynasty. We’ve accomplished a lot this season, and we’ve shown that within our region Owatonna is a very strong team.”

The state tournament will be on March 2-3 at the United States District Courthouse in St. Paul, MN.
