Prepare for the upcoming spring season with fresh, new music.

With the new spring season starting on March 18, it is the perfect time for new beginnings. This also means it is a great time to introduce new music to one’s daily routine. Music can set the mood for a new era in life, so it is important to choose the right sounds, artists and vibes.

  1. Kokomo, IN by Japanese Breakfast

Japanese Breakfast is an alternative/indie band that was formed in 2013 by lead singer Michelle Zauner. “Kokomo, IN” is from the band’s most recent album, “Jubilee” which was released in 2021. “Kokomo, IN” is an upbeat tune perfect for a sunny morning in spring.

  1. (You) On My Arm by Leith Ross

Leith Ross is a new and upcoming Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist. They are signed to Republic Records and currently have two albums, “Motherwell” and “To Learn, More.” The song “(You) On My Arm” is the tenth track on “To Learn, More” and it has uplifting lyrics that radiate pure cheer.

  1. I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore by Lucy Dacus

Lucy Dacus is a highly acclaimed alternative/indie singer, songwriter and guitarist. She is involved in the Grammy-award-winning band ‘boygenius’ and has four solo studio records. “I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore” was released in 2016 alongside her debut record “No Burden.” The track has relatable lyrics and has the perfect beat to dance around one’s bedroom to.

  1. Lighthouse by Adrianne Lenker

  1. Land Locked Blues by Bright Eyes

Bright Eyes—formed in 1995 by Conor Oberst—is an American indie/rock band. “Land Locked Blues” is from their 2005 album, “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.” While this track has a more mellow vibe, its calming nature will send its listeners into a trance.

  1. Ketchum, ID by boygenius

Boygenius is an alternative/indie/rock supergroup formed in 2018 by Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. The band currently has two EPs and a 2023 album titled “the record” which awarded them three Grammys. “Ketchum, ID” is the sixth track on their 2018 self-titled EP. The song is filled with delicate harmonies perfect for a breezy spring day.

  1. First Love / Late Spring by Mitski

This track has spring in the name, making it the ideal song of the season. Mitski is a singer-songwriter, and she self-released her first two albums as senior projects while studying music in college. “First Love / Late Spring” is the third track on her 2014 album, “Bury Me at Makeout Creek.” This tune has melancholic lyrics meant for late, starry nights in spring.

She was also involved in the band Noah and the Whale from 2006 to 2008. “For You” is from her 2022 album, “Song for Our Daughter.” The breathtaking magnificence of “For You” is reminiscent of the beauty of springtime.

  1. American Teenager by Ethel Cain
