Conference Meets…Full Speed Ahead

The Girls Swimming and Diving regular season is over. Yet, the season is far from over. The team has conference meets to look forward to- Big 9, Sections and then State.

Coach Isaiah Fuller said, “I expect the team to do well. They’ve really been stepping it up. The swimmers have been doing well. The team is much stronger than last year. We have a lot of younger talent. I expect them to step it up even more. I’m ready to see what these girls can do. Right now, we’re seated at the bottom of the Big 9. I think we can surprise some of the teams, though.”

The team is also looking forward to Sections and for some, State. Coach Fuller said, “We have a loaded section, but Kalley Schwab should go to state in diving. Tatelyn Blazek is another diver state hopeful. And Matalin Shaver hopefully will swim at state.”

At Faribault, Shaver placed first in a couple of her events, a feat considering the Faribault team’s standing. Schwab also placed first in diving.

Senior Captain Madison Eggermont commented on sections. “I expect that all the hard work will pay off. I’ve had a lot of fun seeing our team grow. She also commented on the fact that Faribault was her last regular season meet. “I never thought I would be saying this is my last. I just want to end it on a good note. It’s really very bittersweet.”

The Junior Varsity Big 9 meet is on Oct. 24. The Varsity swims on Oct. 26. Diving is on Oct. 25.
