Objection!

Mock Trial has been doing outstanding so far this year. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of cancellations due to the bad weather, so some teams have competed more than others.

They have been working on the Edman Fitzgerald civil case. A civil case is a where the person is not murdered. In the case it was a famous ship in Lake Superior that sunk in the 70’s, Wilder Storm’s mother wants insurance for her son’s death. Each team must argue both sides of the case. They have been practicing 3 nights a week, and Thursdays, they practice at the Owatonna courthouse. Freshman Breanna Mes said, “We’ll do great. We have great leading lawyers.” She thinks regionals have been going well so far, and that the team is hardworking and fun.

Advisor Polly Shives said, “I feel very good about our teams moving on to semi-finals.” She said she feels very confident, and said her group is very hardworking and confident. The C-team has two losses by one point only, B-team one win, with one loss, and A-team with one win. Today, Wednesday, Feb. 5, B-team will be up against B-team Northfield, and C-team up against A-team Northfield. After that they will be waiting for the results.
