Katherine Speiker, Writer
Katherine Speiker is a senior at Owatonna High School. She loves to keep busy and make life interesting by being involved in several school activities such as Mock Trial and Symphony orchestra, as well as Key Club and Drama Club. This summer, Katherine participated in a school trip to Italy; her highlight being the Coliseum in Rome. Even though she initially joined Magnet just to avoid study hall, she remained in it because of the great people and writing practice it gave her. Katherine hopes to continue with writing, although isn’t sure journalism is the path to do it on. However, as she looks at colleges and majors, she is willing to keep her options open! When asked what her favorite joke was, she responded, “Why couldn’t the hot dog be a male model? Because he didn’t have the BUNS for it!” (Credit to Mady Vieths for this inspiring pun.)
